Good News For Trumpeter Swans

We’re pleased to announce that Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks has adopted a 5-year plan to continue reintroduction of Trumpeter Swans into the Madison Valley. The goal is to reestablish at least 5 nesting pairs of these birds; trumpeters historically nested in this area.

Releases will take place in late August each year from 2017 to 2021. Montana Audubon has been a supporter of past Trumpeter Swan releases in the Madison Valley. In May our Action Alert encouraged individuals to write-in support of extending this release. All comments received by the agency were supportive, so the project has been approved.
