Sage-grouse meetings across Montana - Governor's CONSERVATION PLAN

The draft Greater Sage-Grouse Conservation Strategy is now available from MT FWP. Public meetings will be aimed at discussing and examining the strategy and taking comment on the council's recommendations. Public meetings are scheduled for:

  • Dillon Nov. 13; 6-8 p.m. UM–Western, Mathews Hall, Lewis & Clark Room
  • Billings Nov. 18; 6-8 p.m. FWP Region 5 Headquarters
  • Baker Nov. 19; 1-3 p.m. Senior Citizens Center
  • Miles City Nov. 19; 7-9 p.m. Miles City Community College, James P. Lucas Bldg.
  • Glasgow Nov. 20; 6-8 p.m. Cottonwood Inn &Suites
  • Malta Nov. 21; 12-2 p.m. First State Bank
  • Lewistown Nov. 21; 6-8 p.m. FWP Lewistown Area Office

Council members and FWP will be on hand to discuss the strategy and the information displayed. Written comment can be submitted at each public meeting.

Over 30 Christmas Bird Counts occur throughout Montana every winter. This event is open to everyone, from beginner to experienced birdwatchers.

Save the date for this great collaborative citizen science effort: BIRDSOURCE.ORG

Calling All Birders! Help science with your bird observations. Did you record a list of birds on your latest outing? Become an eBird user. The Montana Bird Distribution project collects bird observations from around the state. Learn how to help.

Reports of bird sightings and outings are posted on the Montana Outdoor Birding Site.

June 6-8, 2014: Montana Audubon's annual bird festival - Bozeman

Save the date! Montana Audubon will hold our annual bird festival in Bozeman this year.

Be inspired by great speakers, visit with awesome birders from around the state, and get outside. We'll have an amazing variety of field trips planned, taking advantage of the many riparian and wetland areas, forests, and birding hotspots in the surrounding areas.

This year's keynote is University of Washington's Dr. John Marzloff, corvid expert.

October 201: Bridger Raptor Festival - Bozeman

peregrine falconConsider attending the Bridger Raptor Festival, an annual event held in and around Bozeman. The festival, which is free to the public, centers around a raptor migration count of the largest known Golden Eagle migration in the United States which takes place at the Bridger Bowl ski area in the Gallatin National Forest just north of Bozeman.
