birdwatching

Birdwatching is one of the fastest growing recreations in the United States. Ask any birder and they will be able to tell you why: the enjoyment that comes from being outdoors, the satisfaction of learning about the natural world, and the pleasure of seeing an unexpected flash of color in the trees. This section includes statewide information on where to go to see birds, how to find out what other birders are seeing, birding trips led by Montana Audubon, and more.

In the News. July 2009. The Fish and Wildlife Service released a report that shows one of every five Americans watches birds, and in doing so, birdwatchers contributed $36 billion to the U. S. economy in 2006. And guess what? Montana ranks #1 with a 40% participation rate! Read the press release with links to the full report HERE >>
