Montana Audubon works at the local, state and national policy levels to protect our natural heritage.
Join the Montana Audubon Center and Wild Birds Unlimited of Billings for an introduction to birding on Friday evening, May 13. We’ll cover the basics–bird features, using a field guide, where to look–and introduce participants to eBird, a real-time online bird checklist program. We’ll have binoculars and scopes on hand for participants to try, and we’ll teach the basics of finding and focusing.
Global Big Day, an effort led by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, will take place on Saturday, May 14. Montana Audubon Center staff will hold a welcome and orientation for all participating birders, beginning at 7:00 am. Birders are then encouraged to hit the field–for a few minutes or a full day–to search for birds and log their sightings in Cornell’s popular eBird program. For those who wish to get started early, Center staff will lead a birding hike on Norm’s Island beginning at 7:30 am.
