Join the Montana Audubon Center for our 9th Annual Earth Day Celebration, a day of stewardship projects and education about caring for our planetary home. The 2017 International Earth Day theme is “Environmental and Climate Literacy” which is a great chance to highlight the work we’re doing at the Center.
Work and fun at the Center begin at 9:00 am. Participants will have their choice of projects, from naturalist-led trash pickup hikes to planting native species, mulching, and weeding. We will have special family-friendly restoration activities, so bring the kids, too.
Join us for an hour or the whole day. Bring water, work gloves, and the whole family. If you have one, bring a shovel! No fee for participation; volunteers are invited to a free BBQ lunch at noon. Event takes place rain or shine!

The Montana Audubon Center began celebrating Earth Day in April of 2008 with a land restoration work party. Forty volunteers spent the morning weeding the nursery, planting shrubs and trees, and picking up trash on the grounds. The hard work was followed by a free BBQ lunch, birding hikes, and canoe rides on the ponds. Since our land restoration season kicks off in April, Earth Day became a great way to celebrate spring, get people outside, and start the season with a bang. From its modest beginnings with 40 dedicated volunteers, the annual celebration has blossomed and now draws over 150 people to the Center each spring.
