Teacher Naturalist Trainings
Montana Audubon provides exceptional professional development workshops for educators throughout Montana.  Our workshops prepare classroom teachers, non-formal educators, and natural resource professionals with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to lead engaging and effective classroom and outdoor natural history lessons.  Workshops are offered throughout the state typically in partnership with a local Audubon chapter, organization, or agency. Workshop costs vary depending upon available funding from grants or private donations, length of workshop, and content. All workshops are available for Office of Public Instruction Renewal Units.  Most workshops offer University credit.

Montana Audubon Teacher Naturalist workshop themes include:

  • Birds of Montana and Introduction to Birding
  • Expanding the Walls of the Classroom: an introduction to place-based education philosophy, methods, and activities.
  • The Montana Naturalist: Montana natural history, outdoor teaching methods, and environmental education activities.
  • Fire Ecology and Birds

Audubon Field Trips
Througout the U.S., Audubon has become synonymous with birding. Each of the Audubon chapters in the state offer exceptional birding field trips to the local birding hot spots. From Owl Prowls in Bozeman to waterfowl tours in the Flathead, Audubon chapters are introducing thousands of people to the wonderful world of birds. Visit a chapter website or contact the local leader to find out what is happening in your area.
