montana audubon - take action

Montana Audubon’s Advocacy Program informs political leaders, citizens, and land managers about the effects of their decisions on wildlife and the quality of the human experience. Below you will find a description of the various projects we are involved in and how you can help:

ACTION ALERTS:

AUGUST 2010. Write the Montana Dept. of Agriculture today to regulate the invasive Russian olive tree. This plant is replacing our native cottonwoods along eastern Montana rivers and streams. The Dept. of Agriculture is proposing to list Russian olive as a Priority 3 plant, which would prohibit its sale in the state. Comments are due August 12. Lend your voice today > >

JULY 2010.  The BP Gulf Coast oil spill is a sobering reminder why we urgently need to move to a clean, renewable energy system. And it reminds us of how inter-connected our world is – from the marshes in Louisiana to the halls of Congress. Encourage Senators Baucus and Tester to support our clean energy future and a cap on carbon. Global warming matters to Montana's birds, wildlife, people, and economy. The cost of inaction increases the longer we fail to act. Lend your voice >>

BE AN ARMCHAIR ACTIVIST: Sign up for our e-alerts (light email traffic).

MONTANA LEGISLATURE: We continue to be the main voice at the Montana Legislature working to ensure that wildlife programs and laws adequately protect all wildlife, especially nongame wildlife and their habitats. We worked collaboratively for responsible renewable energy and energy efficiency efforts in 2009. 2011 is just around the corner. Do your part to elect conservation-minded legislators so we can protect birds and wildlife across the state. More >>

CONTACT DECISION MAKERS: Contact information is provided for the Governor, Montana Legislature, State Land Board, and our federal Representative and Senators. More >>
