Legislative Action Alert: February 26th, 2021

It’s crunch time! We need your help. Contact your local House Representative or Senator today!

Over the next few days, even over the weekend and into early next week, legislators will be voting on dozens of bills that affect our wildlife, outdoor way of life, land-use planning and subdivision laws, clean water, and much more. Unfortunately, there is much more bad than good.

We have a big opportunity to make a difference. The message is simple right now…. vote yes, or vote no!

 

These bills are heading to the House floor any minute!

Find your local House Representative and Contact them:

  • Select Bill Type and Bill Number
  • Select For or Against
  • Provide your message, making sure to personalize with your name, hometown and one sentence about your background and concern.

WILDLIFE

HB 418: Public Lands Access Act – VOTE NO

HB 468: Allowing hound hunting and chase seasons for black bears – VOTE NO

HB 302: Require county approval to relocate bison- VOTE NO

HB 305: Generally revise laws related to roadside menageries, wildlife sanctuaries, zoos- VOTE YES

SB 58: Provide fund transfer for livestock losses – VOTE NO

CLEAN ENERGY AND CLIMATE CHANGE

HB 475: Eliminate Montana’s Renewable Energy Standard – VOTE NO

LAND USE

HB 518: Increasing allowed development area within the floodplain – VOTE NO

HB 419: Empower small communities to veto superfund cleanup requirements and costs – VOTE NO

SB 115- Establish acquisitions requiring land board consideration- VOTE NO

WILDLIFE

SB 249: Funding for the Sage grouse Stewardship Act  – VOTE YES

SB 284: A terrible bill that allows gravel pits in Sage grouse habitat – VOTE NO

SB 314:Allow night hunting of wolves, allowing baiting of traps, and grossly expanding wolf harvest in Montana with the goal of reducing numbers to 15 breeding pairs – VOTE NO

SB 267: Allowing private money to reimburse wolf trappers for their expenses – VOTE NO

SB 306: Mandate that the Fish and Game Commission have 4 members be landowners engaged in agriculture practices – VOTE NO

SB 360: Mandate that Fish, Wildlife, and Parks manage fisheries for sport fish (even non-native species)  – VOTE NO

SB 337: Disallow the relocation of grizzly bears protected under the Endangered Species Act – VOTE NO

SB 153: Give the Parks division of MT Fish, Wildlife, and Parks management of Fishing Access Sites, Wildlife Management areas, and more – CONTACT THE SENATE NATURAL RESOURCES COMMITTEE AND ASK THEM TO VOTE NO

SB 163- add two seats to the Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission and make them align with the seven existing Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks regions. – VOTE YES

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

SB 324: Allowing more selenium pollution in NW MT waters – VOTE NO

SB358: Eliminating numeric nutrient standards for water – ie – allow more non-point source pollution – VOTE NO

SB260: Undermining state environmental and public health and safety regulation by expanding Regulatory Takings Law – VOTE NO
