It’s that time again!
Audubon’s Spring Climate Watch program is back from May 15th to June 15th, 2025. Each survey includes 12 short point-counts, recording observations for six target species: Pygmy Nuthatch, Red-breasted Nuthatch, White-breasted Nuthatch, Western Bluebird, Mountain Bluebird, and Spotted Towhee.
By tracking observations of these six target species during the survey window, the Climate Watch program is able to compare the number of birds recorded at each location to past years data, environmental factors such as temperature or precipitation, and predicted climate models. By comparing this data, National Audubon is able to better understand how these target species’ ranges are changing in response to climate change.
