Advocates Recognized by Outdoor Hall of Fame

Montana Audubon recently joined the Montana’s Outdoor Legacy Foundation and several other co-sponsoring conservation and historical entities to honor 13 outstanding Montanans through the Montana Outdoor Hall of Fame. This year’s honorees included:
- Margaret Adams (Audubon and wilderness advocate, Great Falls (deceased))
- Bob Anderson (wilderness and conservation advocate, Livingston (deceased))
- Ken & Florence Baldwin (wildlife and wildlands advocates, Bozeman (deceased))
- George Darrow (father of the Montana Environmental Policy Act and other important legislation, Big Fork (deceased))
- Jim Goetz (lawyer spearheading public land and stream access rights, as well as other conservation issues, Bozeman)
- Bud Lilly (father of fly fishing, Three Forks)
- Pat McVay (hunter education teacher extraordinaire, Kalispell)
- Bob Munson (co-founder of Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Chinook)
- Jim Posewitz (passionate advocate for fish and wildlife, Helena)
- Bob Ream (founder of Univ. of Montana’s Wilderness & Civilization Program, and active conservationist, Helena)
- Tony Schoonen (passionate access and wildlife activist, Butte)
- Bearhead Swaney (impassioned tribal advocate for wildlands and environmental protection, Saint Ignatius (deceased))
- Pat Williams (Congressman and effective advocate for Montana’s wildlands, Missoula)
The awards not only recognize Montana’s historical and contemporary conservation leaders, but also capture their stories in an effort to contribute to public awareness and education.
