Montana’s premier habitat conservation and access program is currently under attack. HB 651, sponsored by Rep. Matt Regier (R-Kalispell) would erode Habitat Montana and limit the ability to protect key wildlife habitat while still providing public access for Montana hunters & wildlife enthusiasts.
Habitat Montana is one of our greatest conservation success stories. For 30 years, the program has helped ensure that wildlife has critical winter-range habitat, landowners possess tools to address both habitat conservation and wildlife management, and that Montanans have access to public and private lands.
Simply put, the bill duplicates several other access programs already in place, while eroding the core mission of Habitat Montana: habitat conservation.
The bill is up today, Friday, March 24 at 3 pm, in the House Natural Resources Committee! Please contact members of the committee and tell them to oppose the attack on Montana’s premier habitat conservation program, and VOTE NO on HB 651.
