Conservation of habitat is all about people working together to protect places for birds, other wildlife and the human spirit.
Support Montana’s native birds, other wildlife and their habitats by making a gift to Montana Audubon. All donations are tax-deductible.
With your monthly support, we can expand our work for Montana’s birds, wildlife, and their habitats. Monthly donors provide Montana Audubon with an ongoing, reliable source of support throughout the year—enabling a swift response when conservation issues need our attention.
Monthly gifts are a convenient way to support Montana Audubon’s programs in a significant way. If you sign up for this program, monthly donations will be drawn from your bank account. We can send you a receipt for your tax-deductible contribution every month or once a year (your choice). A minimum of $10/month is required.
Unless otherwise noted by the donor, gifts are designated to support all the work done at Montana Audubon. Donors can also specify that gifts benefit one or more program—or one of our endowments, which will support our work in perpetuity.
We all have people and events of particular importance in our lives. If you would like to honor or remember a loved one, or recognize a significant occasion, Montana Audubon welcomes your generosity.
Commemorating a special person with a gift to Montana Audubon provides a lasting tribute to a friend, colleague or loved one, and contributes valuable support to conservation in Montana. A “gift in memory” is an excellent way to honor someone deceased who cared deeply about conservation and Montana. A “gift in honor” of a living person for a milestone occasion such as a graduation, promotion, birth of a child, birthday, or retirement, allows the person to be honored by knowing conservation work is being done in their name.
You will receive a receipt for your tax-deductible donation. An acknowledgment card is also mailed to the honoree or family of the deceased. The individual you have honored or remembered is listed in Montana Audubon’s newsletter. Donors who have no other relationship to Montana Audubon other than making a tribute gift are not solicited for future gifts.

Montana Audubon can accept stocks, bonds, or other securities. In fact, gifts of appreciated stock or other securities can be a mutually beneficial way of contributing to Montana Audubon—allowing you to make an immediate impact on conservation in Montana while receiving a substantial tax benefit.
When you donate appreciated securities that you have held for at least one year, you can get a more favorable tax deduction on your federal income tax return and avoid capital gains taxes that would have been due had you sold the securities. The key is to transfer the assets to Montana Audubon and let us sell the stocks, bonds, or related securities (If you or your broker sells the asset and donates the proceeds, you will be required to pay the capital gains taxes due). Montana Audubon is able to sell or trade your gifted assets, without tax liability, and put all the proceeds to work protecting Montana’s birds and their habitats.
Donating stock to Montana Audubon is simple and straightforward, usually involving a wire transfer of shares from your brokerage account into Montana Audubon’s brokerage account.
