January 15- February 15 & May 15-June 15
Volunteers complete winter and/or summer surveys for target species to collect data that will help us understand how birds are responding to climate change. A project with National Audubon.
March 1 – April 30
These nocturnal cavity nesting owls depend on old growth trees in riparian areas, and we need your help looking for these birds throughout the state to assess their conservation needs.
June 1 – August 10
Want to spend a warm summer night looking and listening for Montana’s nightjar species? Common Poorwills and Common Nighthawks are two cryptic, aerial insectivores lacking data and we need your help gathering information on these hard to find species!

It’s that time again! Audubon’s Winter Climate Watch program is back from January 15 to February 15, 2026.
The Audubon Chapters in Montana host the CBCs for their respective areas. Contact your local chapter for more details and to sign up- contact information can be found on each Chapter’s website.
