For the second year in a row, Montana Audubon is proud to sponsor the Western Sustainability Exchange’s Expanding Markets Conference, which will be held September 23-25 in Billings.
On August 28, 2024, Montana Audubon’s Director of Conservation Christian Meny, along with Montana ranchers Heather Bilden and Bill Milton, chatted with Winnett ACES about the Conservation Ranching program in Montana.
Last fall, Montana Audubon and Audubon-Certified Montana Better Beef Ranch, in Kila, MT, received a grant from the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to fund riparian restoration on Truman Creek, which runs through the ranch.

This winter, a pilot project went off without a hitch when 63 cull cows from 3 Audubon Certified ranches in Montana were sent to a processor for Blue Nest Beef, a nationwide retailer which sources cattle exclusively from Audubon Certified ranches.

Bringing together ranchers, industry leaders, and environmentalists like ourselves, Western Sustainability Exchange (WSE) hosted its second annual Expanding Markets Conference in Billings on November 7th and 8th.
Over the next three years, Montana Audubon will be working with Montana Better Beef on projects that will benefit both ranching operations and wildlife habitat.
