Homeschool Science

2025-2026 Sessions

Provide interdisciplinary, inquiry-based science and nature exploration at Billings’ only nature center. Featuring different themes throughout the school year, taught by our experienced Teacher Naturalists.

Session Pricing:

Littles and Middles 8-week class: $93/student ($83.70 for members)*
Littles and Middles 4-week class: $57/student ($51.30 for members)*

Not an Audubon Center Member yet? Members receive a 10% discount, can register early for homeschool sessions and summer camps, and participate in several of our community programs for FREE – become a member today by visiting our membership page.

Scholarships are available, but are limited! Scholarship funds for this year have been allocated.

Class Offerings

  • Littles: entering K-3rd grade 
  • Middles: entering 4th – 7th grade 

Classes offered on Tuesdays OR Thursdays from 2:00 – 3:45 pm. 

Sessions:

  • Fall Wild Montana (September 9 to October 30th) *8 weeks
    •  From mountains, to rivers, to plains, learn all about the unique landscape and history of Montana and the flora and fauna that call our great state home.
  • Winter I Pokémon Go Outside (November 11 to December 11th) *4 weeks
    • Work towards becoming a Pokémon Master as you earn badges through rock testing, insect catching, fire making, and more. Learn about how the world around us inspires Pokémon, and let’s get outside!
  • Winter II – Mad Scientists (January 6 to February 26th) *8 weeks
    • Discover what makes a scientist through your own experiments: states of matter, crazy chemistry, freaky frequency, and so much more. We will learn lab safety as we create our own concoctions. Don’t be surprised if you go home with a mad scientist’s cackle!
  • Spring I Citizen Science (March 10th to April 2nd) *4 weeks
    • Collect data around the center grounds from bird species, water quality, plant life, and more! Become an active part in what makes the Montana Audubon Center so great! By becoming a citizen scientist.
  • Spring II Outdoor Survival (April 7 to May 28th) *8 weeks
    • What are the odds you would survive if you were stranded in the wilderness? Learn how to pack, what to do in emergencies, how to build fires and shelters and other survival basics. Increase your odds during this session!

Homeschool will not be in session during the following dates:

  • November 3 to November 7 (Fall Break)
  • November 24 to November 28 (Thanksgiving Break)
  • December 15 to January 2 (Winter Break)
  • March 2 to March 6 (Spring Break)
