Registration for our 2025 camp season opens March 12th for Center members, and March 19th for the public!

 

 

3 Steps To Summer Fun!

Step 1: Register for summer camp. Please pay attention to each prompt as it will walk you through how to register multiple kids and payment options.

Step 2: Print out and bring the Parent Consent Form with you on the first day of camp. *Please use one form per child. This form will be used the entire summer camp season, if attending multiple camps.

Step 3: Have a fun filled summer!

Camp Schedule and Information:

Tinies (Ages 3-5) Summer Session is for one week at a time over the 10-week season, available M-W-F and T-TH, 8:30 – noon. The registration link is the same as regular summer camp.

Camp Descriptions:

  • Tinies Summer Session (3 – 5 year olds)
    Tinies Summer Session provides a great foundation for lifelong learning. Our experienced staff and high quality program emphasize social skills, risk management, and learning that emerges from play. Class is limited to 8 students. Registration is for one week at a time during the 10 week season. Campers must be potty trained and able to independently use a pit toilet.
    Camps run 8:30am – 12:00pm | M-W-F: $99 | T-Th: $66, June 9 – August 15

 

  • Littles Camps (Entering K – 2nd Grade)
    • Little Explorers Muddy boots, pond soup, and tree climbing, oh my! Get down and dirty scouting out the ponds and forests. The wild awaits!
    • Water Wiggles Splish and splash yourself into puddles, ponds, and streams all week long. Learn about (and catch!) some of the creatures that call these waters home and get up closer in canoes.
    • Tiny Scientists Put on your lab goggles and safety gloves for a week of experiments. Learn how fire burns, how water fills our ponds, and more. Ask questions and get EXPLOSIVE answers as tiny scientists!
    • Bug Out! Explore the Center through the eyes of a bug. Roll over logs, scoop in the pond, and use bug nets to learn about the lives of these mini-beasts up close and in person.
    • Dino-tastic What’s your favorite dinosaur? Learn more about these prehistoric creatures, dig for bones, and get to know modern dinosaurs- birds!
    • Amazing Animal Adaptations Why do animals have wings, scales, tails and claws? Explore  different adaptations and learn how animals survive in their environment. Can you adapt?
    • Big Backyard From grasslands to forests to ponds, play and explore all over the Center’s 54 acres and surrounding areas. Get off trail, build forts, and canoe your way through these different “backyards”.
    • NEW! Rivers and Rocks The Yellowstone River rocks! Learn all about the river itself, how it affects the land around it, and learn to become a rockhound!
    • Grow with the Flow From tiny seeds, whacky weeds, and the biggest trees, campers will grow in their knowledge of plants this week. Dirty hands, plant yoga, and more awaits!
    • NEW! Creepy Creatures From wolves to bats and snakes to bugs, learn all about the animals that people consider creepy. Conquer your fears in learning that these animals, just like everything else, have a place in our ecosystem. Perhaps they aren’t as scary as you might think!
    • Feathered Friends Birds of a feather flock together! Join our flock as we discover local birds through sight, sound, and games. Use binoculars, make a bird feeder, and have a quacking good time!
    • NEW! Sense-sational Animals Can you name your five major senses? Learn all about the senses, how to use them when in nature, and the animals that excel in using them!
    • “Bee” a Pollinator Birds, bugs, and bats are all pollinators. Learn how important pollination is to our everyday lives while playing games, finding these cool critters, and taking home your own beginner pollinator garden. This week is sure to bee great!
    • Fabulous Forest Friends Insects, birds, and mammals all call the forest home. Run through the trees looking for signs of these little critters…but make sure to keep your eyes open for the Bigfoots that also live here!
    • Pondemonium Prepare to get wet and wild as we learn about the creatures that live in wetlands, from tiny tadpoles to snapping turtles. Collect and identify insects, fish, and more during this week of water-based wonderings. Fishing is a must!
  • Middles Camps (Entering 3rd – 5th Grade)
    • Summer Favorites Canoeing, capture the flag, fort building and s’more! This week is for all the activities that make summer camp great. What’s your favorite summer camp activity?
    • NEW! Wild Montana This week is about to get wild! Join us in learning what the outdoors of Montana has to offer. Make your own fishing pole, hike around the Center, and learn how to stay safe on the trail on this wild adventure!
    • Outdoor “Ologies” “Ology” means “the study of” and there are plenty of ologies out there: biology (life), ornithology (birds), geology (earth), entomology (insects) and more! Learn about a different outdoor topic each day as you become a well-rounded outdoor-ologist.
    • Fishing and Fort Building Two great ways to have fun in the outdoors! Create a variety of shelters in the surrounding forests and learn how to build fires, tie knots and canoe. Whittle your own fishing pole and drop a line in the surrounding ponds. Camp ends Friday at noon.
    • Pokémon Go Outside Work towards becoming a Pokémon Master as you earn badges through canoeing, insect catching, fire making, and more. Learn about the real life animals that inspire Pokémon and create a Pokémon card of your own. “Gotta catch ‘em all” this week of camp!
    • Western Adventures It’s the wild west, y’all! Live and explore like Lewis and Clark: learn how to make fire, use compasses, and build shelters. Go back in time during Western Adventures! Camp ends Friday at noon.
    • Field Day Capture the flag, canoe games, and relay races abound during this week of camp. Join us for a week of fun and games and great times!
    • Made in Nature Craft your way through this week of camp as you discover how to use natural materials around you. From food to hand-made products, you’ll have plenty of projects to take home.
    • Nature’s Kitchen Did you know that roses, pine trees and some weeds are edible? Learn about and taste native, edible plants. Build your own recipe book this week as you make nature your kitchen.
    • NEW! Nature Detectives Channel your inner Sherlock as we dive into the mysteries of nature. Learn how to identify birds by sound, how to identify animals from their bones, and plenty of other thrilling cases to turn you into a true detective!
    • Zoology Who doesn’t love animals? Spend a week as a zoologist in training. Learn more about, and see, all kinds of critters from insects to tigers. Identify tracks, scat, and skulls to become a pro! Offered in partnership with Zoo MT. *Friday drop-off and pick-up at ZooMontana.*
    • Minecraft Mania Learn the skills it will take to survive in your own mini-world. Build and craft fires and shelters. Stay safe from monsters and also ‘mine’ rocks along the Yellowstone River. Creative, Survival, Hardcore or Adventure: how will you play in the real world?
    • Discovery Girls Join a girls-only group for a week of exploring the world around you. Build fires, hike, make natural scrubs, fish, geocache and much more. Get out there and be a nature girl! Camp ends Friday at noon.
    • Traditional Games Run and Scream, Make the Stick Jump, and Northern Cheyenne Kickball are just some of the Traditional Indigenous games you’ll play this week of camp. Create your own game pieces to continue the fun at home!
    • Outdoor Survival What are the odds you would survive if you were stranded in the wilderness? Learn how to pack, what to do in emergencies, how to build fires and shelters and other survival basics. Increase your odds this week at camp!
    • Summer in Color Art and the outdoors, can you think of a better combo? Learn tricks of the trade as we create works of art inside and outside! Each camper will take home an art kit with various supplies and tote. *Additional $25 fee for take-home supplies*
    • NEW! Water Warriors Face the trials of becoming a water warrior by canoeing, catching water organisms, and participating in water-based games and activites. Think you’re up to the challenge?
  • Olders Camps (Entering 6th – 9th Grade)
    • Made in Nature Craft your way through this week of camp as you discover how to use natural materials around you. From food to hand-made products, you’ll have plenty of projects to take home.
    • NEW! Field Science Have you ever wondered what a biologist does in the field? This camp is your chance to become a scientist in training! From catching bees to looking for birds, learn from our Teacher Naturalists to kickstart your scientific career!
    • Outdoor Survival What are the odds you would survive if you were stranded in the wilderness? Learn how to pack, what to do in emergencies, how to build fires and shelters and other survival basics. Increase your odds this week at camp!
    • Summer in Color Art and the outdoors, can you think of a better combo? Learn tricks of the trade as we create works of art inside and outside! Each camper will take home an art kit with various supplies and tote. *Additional $25 fee for take-home supplies*

 

Camp Costs

Half Day (8:30 am – noon or 12:30 pm – 4:00 pm) $165

Full Day (9:00 am – 4:00 pm) $275

Half Day Holiday Week* $99

Is your kiddo attending both morning and afternoon camps? You can sign the kids up for “lunch buddies” to help us ensure staff supervision during that half-hour break ($15/week).

Double-Half Day Camp Discount: Receive $40 off when you register your camper for an AM and PM camp of the same week. The discount will be automatically added to your cart.                                                                                        *Holiday Week Double-Half Day Camp Discount is $20.

 

Cancellation Policy
-A full refund minus a 20% processing fee will be issued if notice of cancellation is received 15+ days in advance of the event or program.
-Refunds of 50% will be issued if notice of cancellation is received 8 – 14 days in advance of the event or program.
-No refund will be issued if notice of cancellation is received 7 or less days before the program. Please contact Montana Audubon to discuss options for
transferring registration fees.

*Montana Audubon reserves the right to cancel events, workshops, festivals, trips, camps, etc., that do not meet minimum registration requirements. If Montana Audubon cancels an event, you will be notified prior to the start of the event or program. A full refund will be issued within two (2) weeks of the cancellation date. 

2025 Scholarship Information:

Scholarships are given based on the number of people in a household and the income of the household. Here is the link to the scholarship application. Participants can apply for one week of full-day camp OR two half-day camps (in the same week, or different weeks), please put the names of the specific camps you’re interested in on the application. Each participant needs their own individual application filled out.

How do we do summer camps at the Montana Audubon Center? 

  • Low staff: camper ratio of 1:7
  • Diverse, educationally relevant, and age-appropriate programming
  • Professional staff of trained naturalists for a safe and fun environment for all campers
  • 80% of program time is outdoors, with an emphasis on education and individual exploration.
  • Family and Sponsor Level Members receive a 10% discount off the list price (learn more and sign up for a membership here).

  • Each camp includes a “giving back” component to care for the natural world.
  • Camps are divided into age groups: Tinies (preschool-aged and potty-trained), Littles (entering K-2nd), Middles (entering 3rd-5th), and Older Kids (entering 6th-9th)
